MAF repairs ----------- The following are good indicators of faulty temperature sensor and/or MAF problem - the check engine light coming on either all the time or intermittantly, - motor running rough, - cutting out, - not starting reliably, - engine miss - excessive fuel consumption, i.e. 30mpg = 9.4L/100km or worse. ### Resoldering [http://www.micra.com.au/technical-articles/cg13de-throttle-body-resoldering-guide.php](https://web.archive.org/web/20110216164025/http://www.micra.com.au/technical-articles/cg13de-throttle-body-resoldering-guide.php "http://www.micra.com.au/technical-articles/cg13de-throttle-body-resoldering-guide.php") ### Board interconector `Missing board connector image` Nissan throttle body MAF board interconnector As well as dry joints on the MAF circuit boards, the board interconnector can also cause trouble. Symptoms symptoms are similar. What happens to the idle when you give the throttle body a whack with the back of a screw driver? If you go the CONSULT route, you'll be able to see what's going on, i.e. -airflow & fuel jumping up with no change in throttle position while driving on a level road at constant speed. -weird/inconsistant airflow readings at idle\ Take apart as described above. Desolder the 3 wires on the right that go to the plug Remove all the screws. Remove circuit boards, MAF hotwire will slide out too. Wiggle board interconnector. A squirt of a non residue electrical cleaner on the hotwire probably won't hurt at this stage either. Resasemble. Also see picture with numbered steps & instructions. Cleaning the idle control valve ------------------------------- Take it apart. Clean all the black gunk out. Reassemble, make sure there is no grit left inside which can jam it.
